Is a Google core update on the way?.

Nothing’s been confirmed, but if you look at how often Google rolls out its core updates, we reckon another isn’t far off. It’s worth knowing what that means for your business.
Is a Google core update imminent?
Here’s what we know for sure.
Google’s official Search Status Dashboard hasn’t confirmed anything so far in August. The last change was the latest spam update, which wrapped up back in late June. There’s a bit of chatter in SEO circles about rankings changing without good reason, but nothing that adds up to hard evidence of a core update yet.
What does make sense is the timing. Google’s made two big core updates already this year: one at the end of March, another at the end of May. That’s roughly every two months. Follow that pattern forward, and the next one’s due right around now, in August or September. Google never announces core updates in advance, so we’re going off form rather than a confirmed date, but the form is pretty consistent.
What does this mean for your business?
In the past few years, Google has been pretty consistent in its aims for core updates. At its simplest, Google wants to make the user’s search experience as friction-free and useful as possible. That means delivering results that are genuinely helpful, whether that be returning the most capable roofer in the area or offering plumbing advice from genuine experts.
The businesses that ride these updates out without experiencing huge drops are the ones who aren’t relying on tricks to get ahead. In other words, honest content, real reviews, and a site that actually helps people tend to win. Those who chase spammy backlinks, post generic, copied blogs and inflate their credentials tend to get found out.
Potential Google core update: final thoughts
If you’re confident you’re doing the right things, it’s best to wait and see. Don’t panic if your rankings move about a bit over the next few weeks. It happens. If, however, you or your marketing provider have been trying to game the system with, for example, large swathes of AI-generated content or backlinks in bulk, it might be worth getting your eggs in a row before the core update hits.
